Testimonials about Living Wisdom Schools

Testimonial – Diana Barrett, parent 5th grade girl

How do you measure success?

I've noticed  significant, yet subtle, changes repeatedly over this past weekend, in my daughter.  She, who is helping out without being asked, who cooperated willingly, who encouraged and celebrated others (  including her brother!!), who's gratitude came with  much greater ease.  I'd hear her whistling here and there..  I feel like her cup is filling, drop by drop.  This is in how many weeks of school?

Thank you Thank you thank you!

Energy and joy flood my body cells! Joy descends to me!

“I attended a Living Wisdom School, based on the Education for Life principles, from Kindergarten to 8th grade. When I transferred to a public high school, one thing immediately struck me. I looked around at the high school students, even the smart ones, and everyone seemed to try to do as little work as they could get away with in order to achieve the grades they needed. At my Living Wisdom School, we were supported and inspired by the teachers to do the best we could in all that we did, and the students supported one another in that effort as well.”

– K.M. graduate of Living Wisdom School (Nevada City, CA), and University of Washington

“I always dreamed that a school like this one existed, and we finally found it.”

– Megan Hughes, Portland parent

“I found Living Wisdom Preschool after searching for an alternative to my son’s first experience in a co-op preschool. I had always viewed my son as a very social, active, person. However, I found him withdrawing when in an over-stimulating, chaotic setting. The calm, nurturing environment we found at Living Wisdom Preschool was exactly what he needed. He is able to let his friendly, interested side shine. He loves his teacher, friends, learning and the whole ‘going to school’ experience.

“Now my younger daughter also attends Living Wisdom Preschool. Although they have very different personalities, their experience at Living Wisdom Preschool is helping them both develop into well-rounded, wonderful human beings. They are learning true compassion for others, as well as feeling happy about just being themselves.”

– Rachel Kamb, M.S. (in teaching and instruction), Preschool Parent, Seattle

Love others with an open heart. Smile with your heart

“What is extraordinary about this school is that the special strengths of each child are recognized and nurtured. This happens because of the small class size, but most importantly because of the staff’s wholehearted commitment to each child on an academic level.

“As an engineer, I appreciate the value of the sound academic program of the Living Wisdom School. Moreover, what is important to me beyond academics is offered, such as treating others with kindness and compassion.”

– Paul Greer, Portland parent

“The EFL program has offered our son the delightful opportunity to interact with other joyful souls, to create, play and learn. The environment and activities offer him wonderful opportunities for challenge and growth. Lisa’s genuine sweetness pours into every aspect of the program and to each child. Chandan just loves going off to school.”

– Willow Kushler, Seattle parent

“Living Wisdom School, truly a remarkable school, deserves all our appreciation and support for what it has become: a caring place that embraces the visionary ideal that students can grow in creativity, spirituality, and the refinement of their emotions and intellects in an environment that prizes their individuality and nurtures their spirituality.

“I feel honored to be connected, however indirectly, with this school. I also marvel at its spirit, embrace its visionary ideals, and celebrate its remarkable accomplishments.

“What I particularly applaud here is the cultivation of creative, caring children.”

– Dr. Michael S. Katz, Education Professor, San Jose State University. (Dr. Katz received his Ph.D. from Stanford University, and also taught there.)
